How did you fall in love with your field?

I fell in love with medicine because my parents and grandparents were in medicine and I heard stories about how my mom and dad helped people. I fell in love with cancer care because I felt I could specialize and help many people by treating rare diseases, often when they felt nobody else would be there.

Three things people may not know about you:

  1. I love to snowboard. I am lucky to say that I have snowboarded in the Alps.
  2. Proud husband and a father of two boys and a girl.
  3. Originally from Israel and served three years in the military.

Had 2 appts with him and very late to both. First appt was a video chat and I sat by my computer for 1.5 hours before he came online!

I have seen Dr.Katzir on three different occasions well actually four different occasions one telehealth before and two other surgery proceedings and this telehealth. He is a very, very good surgeon. Very understanding as to what is going on. I have been to other surgeons with the issues that I have been presented with, and he has helped with them on all aspects.

It seemed to me the consultation was rushed. Both the surgeon and the PA were friendly but we asked about radio frequency ablation and never got a good response.

Overall my experience was beneficial and I was thankful that Dr. Katzir was able to get me in ASAP. However I wish that the provider and/or PA would've asked me about my prior appt or even acknowledge that he saw me previously. It would've made me feel as If he cared about following up with me. When I mentioned my lower back hurting it was if he didn't remember me or maybe he thought my new issues superseded my lower back issues. I traveled a long way to see Dr. Katzir over the provider I saw in Denver (which would've been more convenient for me because I have family in CO), but I felt more confident with Dr. Katzir based on my one appt with him. This was a decision that I stressed about. I will continue to do everything I can to prolong any surgery.

Dr. Katzir explained everything in detail and showed a great deal of sympathy and support for my condition and how to proceed. I am very happy with him being my surgeon.
