SERVICES
Primary care providers treat or diagnose many conditions. Their role is to provide immediate relief for acute and chronic illnesses, recommend preventative screenings and coordinate your care with specialists as required. In general, if you have a new symptom or complaint, you should see a primary care provider first. More on primary care providers versus specialists.
Interests
Dr. Josh Laurila is a hybrid provider at Nebraska Medicine. This means he takes care of patients both at the Eagle Run clinic as a primary care provider as well as in the hospital. This allows him to practice the broad scope of medicine he enjoys. You may also run across him in the surgical pre-op clinic.
He grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and attended medical school at Des Moines University in Iowa. While there he met his wife, Mackenzie, who is now a Pediatric Anesthesiologist at Boys Town in Omaha. Together, they have 3 children. He completed his residency with the Family Medicine program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and practiced as a hospitalist at Nebraska Medicine for 5 years before returning to clinic in a hybrid role in 2025.
Dr. Laurila's philosophy of care revolves around meeting his patients where they are in that moment in time. He enjoys practicing in a relaxed, laid-back manner and tries to simplify complicated, overwhelming topics. He also believes that one size may not fit all when it comes to medication and disease management
