I hate my body. I am gaining weight like crazy even with diet and exercise. I loathe the way I look in clothing and spend more time crying than enjoying the pregnancy. People make comments about my weight and how huge I look. I have three months to go. I struggle with wanting to starve myself to not look so fat. I was taken off my anti-anxiety meds, and I am really struggling with depression.
How do I combat these feelings, so I can get through the rest of this pregnancy without hating everything about it?

Pregnancy is rarely the happy, glowing time that is advertised. Many women struggle with self-image during this time. Many changes occur to your body, and it is frustrating when others feel like they have the right to comment about these changes. Trust that your body is doing what it needs to do and remind yourself that pregnancy is temporary.
If you are struggling with anxiety and depression, there are treatments that are safe during pregnancy, which may include psychotherapy and/or medications. Be sure to discuss your concerns with your OB-GYN who can refer you to a reproductive psychiatrist if needed. Most importantly, know that you are not alone in your struggles. Reaching out for help is the hardest step, and we are here to help!
