Heart healthy recipe: Maple and mustard glazed salmon

Raw salmon

Salmon is high in omega-3 fatty acids, an incredibly healthy kind of fat. Regular intake of omega-3 fatty acids lowers your risk for heart disease. 

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 4 salmon filets, 6 ounces each

Instructions:

  1. Combine Dijon mustard, maple syrup, balsamic vinegar and salt in a large zipper storage bag. 
  2. Add salmon to the bag and marinate for 20 minutes.
  3. Remove salmon from the bag, reserving the leftover marinade. 
  4. Baste salmon with the remaining marinade prior to cooking.
  5. Grill salmon for six minutes on each side, marinating between each turn.
