"Never being on the patient side of things, it was frightening, really frightening not to have that control anymore." 

In a matter of weeks, a Norfolk, Nebraska, doctor went from delivering babies to relying on a machine to keep him alive until he could get a new heart. 

Keith Vrbicky, MD is using his new lease on life to raise awareness for organ donation, the act that saved him.

"You know, honestly, I hadn't thought that much about it, but now I think about it all the time," he said.
