Tuition reimbursement
Are you considering returning to school to pursue an advanced degree? We'll help you pay for it. Take advantage of our generous tuition benefit ($20,000 lifetime maximum) for full- and part-time employees.
This benefit is available for full-time employees (0.9 to 1.0) pursing education that benefits Nebraska Medicine.
Casual, part-time and full-time employees who are pursuing one of the following approved degree programs are eligible for this benefit. Approved programs include:
- AS or BS Radiologic Technology
- AS or BS Respiratory Therapy
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Nursing
- Paramedic
- Medical Assistant (MA)
- Surgical Technologist
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
This benefit is available for part-time employees (0.5 to 0.89) pursing education that benefits Nebraska Medicine.
In addition to the criteria above:
- Employees must be in good standing at the time of payment.
- Courses submitted for reimbursement must start on or after the employee's start date.
- Courses must be from an eligible educational institution.
- Employees must complete at least one year of employment after reimbursement.

No matter their role with Nebraska Medicine, colleagues with student loan debt may be eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program. PSLF is a loan forgiveness program for Federal Direct student loans. It forgives the remaining loan balance of borrowers who make 120 eligible payments while employed by an eligible employer (501(c)(3)), like Nebraska Medicine.
Tuition.io provides guidance on the steps required for the submission process, which should be done annually to qualify for loan forgiveness after 10 years of payments.
Student loan assistance is available for full-time employees in eligible roles. Nebraska Medicine will pay your minimum monthly payment, or up to $437.50 per month (whichever is less), directly to your lender with no lifetime maximum.
Advance your education with Clarkson College
Nebraska Medicine employees, their spouses and dependents (23 and younger) receive a 35% tuition discount at Clarkson College in addition to tuition reimbursement benefits.
Save for your children's future education
Planning for your child’s future education just got easier with the NEST 529 College Savings Plan. Administered by Union Bank & Trust for the state of Nebraska, this plan allows employees to save for future education expenses with ease. Here’s how it works:
- Open an Account: Visit NEST529.com to set up your account online or request an enrollment kit.
- Make a Contribution: Start saving by contributing any amount. Checks can be made out to the NEST 529 Plan.
- Receive Confirmation: Look for a confirmation packet with an overview of your new account.
Once your account is set up, you can make additional contributions at any time or set up automatic deductions for hassle-free saving.
