New Discoveries in Radiation Oncology

A mix of late summer beauty mingled with hope for the future at Lauritzen Gardens, Omaha’s Botanical Center. An estimated 200 guests gathered Thursday, August 24th for “New Discoveries – An Inspirational Evening of Hope” with The Nebraska Medical Center.

Hosted by Bruce and Kimball Lauritzen, visitors enjoyed cocktails in the picturesque Victorian Garden followed by dinner and an informative program which focused on advances in the field of radiation oncology.

Featured speakers were Charles Enke, M.D., radiation oncologist at The Nebraska Medical Center and Chairman and Professor, Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and Tim Solberg, Ph.D., radiation physicist at The Nebraska Medical Center and Chief of Medical Physics at UNMC. They offered a progress report, highlighting the expanding use of radiation oncology and the growth of state-of-the-art technologies.

President and CEO of The Nebraska Medical Center, Glenn Fosdick, recognized the important contribution of the hospital’s radiation oncology team in providing cancer patients with the most innovative, up to the minute treatment options possible.

Kimball Lauritzen herself is a cancer survivor. Her unwavering spirit and ability to inspire others led to a special honor in 2004. She became the first recipient of The Nebraska Medical Center’s Star of Courage Award.

Bruce Lauritzen is Chairman of The Nebraska Medical Center’s Board of Directors.
